His current responsibilities include overall management of Troi Automatisering, product development of the Troi Plug-in product line (for FileMaker Pro): software and interface development, software quality assurance. Peter Baanen has a broad industry background, with 8 years in database development and software product development, focusing on database and productivity tools. Prior to founding Troi Automatisering, Peter Baanen co-founded HOPI Trading, a wholesale firm of outdoor equipment. He has worked for several Dutch companies, programming and designing systems on a multitude of platforms (Unix, Stratus, Macintosh, Windows) and in different programming languages. He holds a master degree (Ir.) in computer science from the Technical University of Twente (the Netherlands). In his sleep he has been known to walk. History Education 1981-1987: Studied computer science at the Technical University of Twente (the Netherlands). Final thesis on Computer architecture and programming. Professional background before Troi 1988-1996: Worked for several Dutch firms, programming and designing systems on a multitude of platforms (Unix, Stratus, Macintosh, Windows). 1988 - 1991: Work for PSI Processturing- en Informatiesystemen B.V. as technical employee. In a team responsible for system analysis, functional design and implementation of a logistic system (warehouse system with real-time OLTP aspects) on fault-tolerant STRATUS and VAX/VMS. Also created a development system for logistic projects and implemented a structured design program (Yourdon) 1992: Work at KTI Kinetics Technology International as UNIX systemoperator for 4 HP/9000 computers. Also development of dBase III software and networksupport (Ethernet en TCP/IP). 1993: Work for (partially part-time) Unilever Research, Schiedam as UNIX systemoperator for 4 HP/9000 systems and 20 PC systems. Parallel to this: 1992-1995: Cofounder and owner of HOPI Trading, a wholesale firm of outdoor equipment. Responsible for management, buying and selling, accounting, Macintosh system management and development of an integrated management system on Macintosh with Think C and FileMaker Pro.   Troi Automatisering From 1995: Founder and owner of Troi Automatisering. Troi started out as a firm specializing in high-end solutions for Macintosh and FileMaker, offering consultancy and database design. Currently the main focus is on extending the possibilities of FileMaker with plug-ins. Being the first to develop plug-ins for FileMaker Pro, Troi is leading in this area, offering an extensive collection of plug-ins with new ones being released regularly. Troi Automatisering is Associate member of the FileMaker Solutions Alliance. Some highlights are: May 1995 - June 1995: Developed TienTel voor Macintosh, an application for renumbering telephone numbers to the new 10-digit system. September 1995 - May 1996: At Bright Side of Life Computer Consultancy co-development of an image database for CRI. This database stores security features of bank notes and also information on counterfeited notes. May 1996 - September 1996: Analysis and conversion of main FileMaker Database of Appoint Personele Diensten, an employment agency. June 1996 - May 1997: Several consultancy and implementations for FileMaker databases in cooperation with Appoint IT: Databases for a Call center, The back office for MEDEA, the new industry-initiated pan-European Programme for advanced co-operative Research and Development in Microelectronics. September 1996 - May 1997: For MAW Software Projects: implementation of the Presentation Client and Program to Program Communication of the multi-user game Op Weg (on the road) for the NewMetropolis Science and Technology Center (now NEMO) in Amsterdam. This Transport simulator is one of the fixed exhibits in the museum. It allows players to run their own transport company, by routing cargos to their destination. The simulator is a Client server system, consisting of eight terminals, on which the trucks, trains and ships are displayed in real time. There is also a central display, which shows all movements. From December 1997: Started implementation of plug-in for FileMaker Pro. Being the first to develop plug-ins for FileMaker Pro, Troi is leading in this area, offering an extensive collection of plug-ins with new ones being released regularly. August 2001: Peter Baanen receives FileMaker Pro Excellence Award at FileMaker DevCon 2001.
