Troi Number Plug-in 1.1

This plug-in makes it possible to show a running balance of a value in any portal, especially sorted portals. It does so on-the-fly, whenever any portal data is entered or edited, including changes to the sort key field(s). This functionality is accomplished without scripting.

List of Features

FileMaker Pro 5.5 and MacOS X Compatible

Troi Number Plug-in 1.1 has been tested with FileMaker 5.5 and is made compatible for Mac OS X. The Mac OS version of the plug-in is now a so called 'Super Fat' plug-in that will run on Mac OS 8, 9 and Mac OS X. It also works for any version of FileMaker 4 or later.

Create a running balance

Say you have a file "Customers.fp5" holding customer information and "Transactions.fp5" holding financial transactions. Customers.fp5 has a relation "Customer Transactions" that relates all transactions of each customer.

With the Balance function it is possible to define a field that calculates a running balance. After defining the proper fields with the balance function you can get this balance to show in a portal. If a new transaction is added (or deleted) the balance is recalculated automatically. So this may result in the following portal data:

Date

Transaction description

Amount

Balance

May 1

Deposit

100.00

100.00

May 15

Chicago Rib Shack

-49.50

50.50

May 29

Pie

-8.00

42.50

July 4

Ice Cream

-1.00

41.50

This even works with sorted portals (like in this case where transactions are sorted by date).

Version function helps in registering

With the Tnum-Version function you now can now:

  • return the version string, for example Troi Number plug-in 1.1".
  • return the version number (x1000) of the plug-in, for example 1100.
  • show the Flash Dialog of the plug-in, so that users can see the registration status.
  • resister the plug-in, so that no extra files are needed.
