New version for FileMaker Pro 9

We have released an updated version 2.0.3 of Troi URL Plug-in, our plug-in that retrieves web pages, images and fills in HTTP forms all from FileMaker. This maintenance release fixes some bugs, but also adds a few switches to make encoding and working with passwords easier.

Works with FileMaker Pro 9

Troi URL Plug-in 2.0.3 is compatible with FileMaker Pro 9 on Windows and is a Universal Plug-in on Mac OS X.

Troi URL Plug-in runs native with FileMaker Pro 9, 8.x and runtimes created with FileMaker Advanced 9 and 8.x, but it also still works with FileMaker Pro 7! It can also get JPEG, GIF and PNG images right into a container field.

Do much more than the web viewer

The Web viewer introduced with FileMaker Pro 8.5 made also possible to get data from web sites. However the Troi URL Plug-in can do much more:

• use the POST method to send data
• get images into containers
• set custom headers
• set cookies
• get data without showing the page on a layout (no render time)

Fill out web forms from FileMaker Pro

Troi URL Plug-in can help you fill in forms on the Internet, all from FileMaker Pro. It also retrieves data from any HTTP URL. All from FileMaker Pro you can:

• use the POST method to fill in a web form and retrieve the result directly in FileMaker Pro
• use the GET method to retrieve data and images
• use a secure connection (HTTPS) using SSL
• get access to password protected web pages
• encode text into HTTP format
• show a custom progress dialog during the retrieval (Mac OS only)

More powerful: big parameters and images too!

Troi URL Plug-in 2.0 uses the new External Function API introduced with FileMaker Pro 7. The plug-in functions now have a size limit of 1 Gb per parameter (up from the total of 64000 character limit for all parameters in FileMaker 6!). Also the function parameters now support Unicode characters (Some dialogs only support ASCII at the moment).
You can even get JPEG, GIF and PNG images directly into a container field.

Troi URL plug-in allows you to:

• fill in forms on web sites or your intranet
• get online data like stock quotes, weather reports, etc.
• automatically add information to listings and online databases
• search the Internet for terms or other specific items (like in Sherlock)
• get the postal code or time of your city
• process credit cards, for example with the Aloha Credit Card Processor solution

Content-Type and setting other headers is now possible too

Important: earlier versions of the plug-in could not set the header "Content-Type". But from version 1.8.2 you can now set headers any way you want. Please read the Troi URL FAQ for more information on this issue for the Classic Plug-in 1.3 with content type and other headers.
