Troi Grabber Plug-in 2.3 for FileMaker Pro 12 released

April 19th, 2012: We just released an updated version of Troi Grabber Plug-in, our plug-in for grabbing images and movies from video devices!

This release adds support for FileMaker Pro 12, with examples in the .fmp12 format. It also adds the EasyInstallTroiPlugins.fmp12 example which demonstrates how to automatically install the plug-in directly from a container field. Troi Grabber Plug-in 2.3 runs on Mac OS X and on Windows and enables you to easily grab images from FileMaker Pro!

What can Troi Grabber Plug-in do for you?

With Troi Grabber you can show a live video preview and let the user click to grab the current image into a container.

	Grab it in FileMaker!
	With this plug-in you can grab images directly from FileMaker!

With the plug-in installed you can do all this from within FileMaker:

• preview the image stream from the video input source
• grab pictures from a video input source and put them into your FileMaker database
• open the preview in a separate and powerful image grabbing window.

The Mac OS X version additionally can do this:

• crop pictures to grab only the desired part of the video image
• rotate pictures before grabbing
• record a movie with one click, even HD movies!
• record a movie from a video input source for a specified number of seconds or until the mouse is clicked and save the movie to a specified file on the hard disk
• get timecodes of a recorded movie; you can get the timecode of the beginning of the movie, of the end of the movie, the timecode at the current point in the movie or the duration of the movie in timecode

Compatible with FileMaker Pro 12

Troi Grabber Plug-in 2 was completely rewritten to be FileMaker Pro 7 native, allowing it to make use of the advanced possibilities, like multiple, self-explanatory parameters and support for Unicode.

Troi Grabber Plug-in runs natively with FileMaker Pro 12 and FileMaker Advanced 12, but also with FileMaker Pro 10 and 11. The Mac OS X version is a Universal plug-in which runs natively on PowerPC and Intel Macs.

More powerful image grabbing technology

The 2.x version of Troi Grabber Plug-in adds a new technology for grabbing: QTKit. QTKit is the modern QuickTime framework of Mac OS X 10.4 and later. It allows more flexibility with displaying the preview in a separate window. We have added two QTkit functions which open a window for image grabbing and a window for movie recording.

Works with any QuickTime or TWAIN compatible video camera

On Mac OS X you need QuickTime version 7 or higher installed and a video input source that is compatible with QuickTime. Examples of these inputs are the built-in iSight (on MacBooks), DV camera connected to a FireWire port, the video-in port on AV Macs and several web cams.

On Windows you need a TWAIN compatible input source, like a video camera (Cam Corder), and installed TWAIN drivers for this input source.

What are the costs?

Troi Grabber is a very specialized plug-in, with a limited customer base. To be able to make the conversion viable we had to make the new version of Troi Grabber Plug-in more expensive than our other plug-ins.

We currently only sell a developer license for US$ 999 which allows you to deploy it with your solution.
We currently don't have an upgrade option for single licenses. We only have an upgrade option for developer licenses. Please contact us if you have any questions about this.
