Updated Troi File Plug-in for Claris FileMaker 2025 adds support for custom mount points
Lienden, the Netherlands, December 19, 2025–Troi today announced the immediate availability of Troi File Plug-in 17.1 for Claris FileMaker 2025. Troi File Plug-in 17.1 is made compatible with macOS 26 (Tahoe) and Windows 11 version 25H2. We added new functionality, improved several functions of the plug-in and improved the code in several places.
Improved compatibility
- Tested and made compatible with macOS 26 (Tahoe).
- Tested and made compatible with Windows 11, including Windows 11 version 25H2 (September 30, 2025).
Support for files on custom mount points
- This release adds support for files and folders located on volumes that are mounted on a custom mount point.
- (macOS) Every function or script step with a path input parameter will now check for a custom mount point. This might be the case for (remote) SMB or NFS disks. For example the file: “myNFSDisk:folder1:data.txt” might be internally located at:
“/Users/john/Library/Application Support/acme.com/Volumes/volA/folder1/data.txt”. - Added new function TrFile_GetFileMakerPathFromFullPath, which returns a FileMaker styled full path. On macOS this function also converts any paths of files and folders located on volumes that are mounted on a custom mount point. For example the file “SMBDisk:store1:img.jpg” might be returned as this FileMaker styled path “/MacHD/Users/abe/custom_mountpoints/smb_store1/img.jpg”.
Note that files dropped with the Drag and Drop functionality currently are returned as OS native paths. Add the TrFile_GetFileMakerPathFromFullPath function to convert to the correct FileMaker styled path, which you then can use to set a container field, for example with a JPEG image. - (macOS) Improved the TrFile_Search function: when using the switch -FileMakerPathFormat the plug-in now converts the path for files and folders located on volumes that are mounted on a custom mount point. For example for the found file: “NFSDisk:dir2:data.txt” the returned FileMaker styled Path might be: “/MacHD/Users/ida/Library/Acme/Volumes/volA/dir2/data.txt”.
New and improved functionality
- Added new switch “-NoExtension” to the TrFile_GetFileName function. When you add this switch the extension will not be included in the returned file name. Note that for (existing) folders with a period in the name, for example “myData 1.3.2A”, the full name will be returned.
- (macOS) Improved and modernized the TrFile_ListFolder function, it now internally uses the native POSIX API.
- (macOS) Modernized the TrFile_ListDisks function.
Improved example files
- Updated the DragAndDrop.fmp12 example to use the TrFile_GetFileMakerPathFromFullPath for setting the container field with dragged images or movies.
- Improved the IPTC_XMP_Metadata.fmp12 example file: added a new script “Simple append Caption text to IPTC metadata”, which demonstrates how to append text to an IPTC tag.
Other bug fixes and changes
- Fixed a bug in the TrFile_SetMovieMetaData function: when setting a negative GPS coordinate with a zero integer degree, the sign would become positive, for example “-0.1234” would be set as: “+0.1234”.
- Fixed a small memory leak of a semaphore in the functions TrFile_SetMovieMetaData and TrFile_CreateThumbnail.
- (macOS) Improved the startup registration of the plug-in. When the FileMaker Pro app is translocated and running from a random location, the registration file will now also be searched in “/Applications”.
- Improved registration workflow and added option to disable further registering of the plug-in. Added handling of special DONT_REREGISTER_THIS_PLUGIN tag.
- (macOS) Fixed a problem with the registration of the plug-in.
